The University of Arkansas was established in 1871 as the land grant and flagship university for the state, overlooking the beautiful Ozark Mountains in Northwest Arkansas. Fayetteville is currently ranked as one of the top ten best places to live in the US by US News & World Report for several consecutive years, and #1 in the SEC. We are a research institution with the highest level of Carnegie classification with over 200 academic programs to choose from and a 20:1 student to teacher ratio. The U of A currently offers a scholarship award program that takes deductions off of the additional non-resident portion of tuition for academically qualified students.
