PRESENTER

Tap into the varied expertise of the RACC membership and request a speaker on almost any topic related to the college search and college admission process for your event.  When filling out the request form, select from the popular topics listed.  If you have another specialty topic not listed, please use the "Other" box  and we will do our best to find a speaker for that topic.

MINI-FAIRS

Approximately 10 - 24 RACC schools visit a high school at the same time and set up tables, college fair style. The location can be anywhere on campus and will be determined by the counselor/school. In the past the mini fairs have been held during lunch, break, or free periods in/around a cafeteria, a library, classroom, lawn, etc.

As an additional component to the Mini Fair, we welcome the opportunity to present to large groups of students before the fair begins. The presentation can be done in as few as 20 minutes or as long as an hour.

What’s needed to host this event on your campus?
  • Tables to accommodate the participating colleges.
  • One chair per table.
  • An auditorium/area with AV equipment and a sound system are ideal for the optional presentation.

CASE STUDIES

Students (typically in their junior year) and their parents are invited to participate in a mock admissions evening known as Case Studies. The high school counselor will ask participants to prepare in advance by reading 3 sample college admissions applications. During the Case Studies event, students and parents will meet in small groups with an experienced admissions officer who leads a discussion on what colleges looks for in an applicant, as well as what every college values. Students learn first-hand how they will be evaluated, which helps them begin thinking of the qualities and strengths they bring to the process and what they will need to do to prepare for the application process. A college fair concludes the evening, allowing students to benefit from the contacts they make and ideas they explore.

What’s needed to host this event on your campus?
  • Cases should be distributed to your families prior to event and extra copies should be available that evening.
  • An auditorium/area with AV equipment and a sound system, preferred.
  • Volunteers to help check-in and direct participants to their small groups.
  • Enough classrooms/areas to accommodate the small groups. It would be ideal to have classrooms near one another with white boards with markers and erasers.
  • Tables to accommodate the participating colleges during the college fair.
  • One chair per table.

"Considering out-of-state colleges" presentation

This event is typically offered in the evening, but can be done during the day in conjunction with a day mini fair.  This popular presentation provides students and their families with information about options that exist beyond California and the associated benefits of considering an out-of-state institution. We will demystify the admission process and cost of attendance, offer examples of scholarship opportunities and other financial aid, discuss student life and diversity, among other helpful information to help students find their match school. Following the 30-45 minute presentation, the admission representatives in attendance will present short snapshots of their respective institutions. The evening concludes with a college fair, allowing students to benefit from the contacts they make and ideas they explore.

What’s needed to host this event on your campus?
  • Auditorium/area with AV equipment and a sound system.
  • Tables to accommodate the participating colleges during the college fair.
  • One chair per table.
