  • Colleges Represented: Babson College, Drew University, Muhlenberg College, Texas Christian University, Drexel University
  • Session Description: Beyond transcripts, test scores and letters of recommendations there is a person with a unique background, perspective and personality. The College Essay is your chance to tell YOUR story.  It is your opportunity to tell us how you built your character and arrived at your worldview.  But how do you do this with limited word space?  In this session, students will learn the ins and outs of crafting a great essay from the folks who read them-admissions counselors!

July 7:  STEM Programs 1:30PM PDT |
  • Colleges Represented: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Nevada, Reno, Illinois Institute of Technology, Saint Louis University, Clarkson University
  • Session Description: From engineering to medicine to the ‘tech’ industry to solving environmental problems.  The next generation of innovators will have a significant impact on our world.  In this session, students will hear from Universities who are strong in STEM learning about their admissions processes and how to prepare academically to get accepted to the program of your choice. 

July 8:  How to Pay for College 3:30PM PDT | 
  • Colleges Represented: University of New Mexico, University of New Hampshire, University of Idaho, The University of Arizona, Marist College
  • Session Description: Investing in your education is quite possibly one of the best decisions you can make.  From grants to scholarships to subsidized versus unsubsidized loans--In this session students will learn some of the terminology surrounding financial aid so they can ask informed questions.  Additionally, participants will learn about some of the resources that exist to help families plan to fund a college degree. 

July 9: Considering Out of State Options 1:30PM PDT |
  • Colleges Represented: Washington State University, Iowa State University, University of Alaska Anchorage, Colorado Mesa University, University of Delaware
  • Session Description: Students will learn how local opportunities in California measure up to opportunities in other states and abroad. Important topics like impacted majors, financial aid, and costs of living are covered to highlight some of the benefits of keeping an open mind during your college search. 

July 13:  How College Decisions Are Made 3:30PM PDT | 
  • Colleges Represented: Lawrence University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Delaware, Michigan State University, Seton Hall University
  • Session Description: How does a college determine if we are a good fit for each other? Every University does things differently to meet the needs of their students.  In this session, Admissions Representatives will break down the evaluation process in general and speak to how things work at their respective institutions.

Where do you even start?  Students in this session will learn how to sift through their options and go about deciding if a school could be a good fit for them.  Students will gain insight on how to approach building a list of schools and leave with some new tools that they can use in their college search. 

July 21:  Applying to Visual and Performing Arts Colleges 1:30PM PDT | 
  • Colleges Represented: Columbia College Chicago, Nazareth College, Syracuse University, Goldsmiths, University of London, University of Houston
  • Session Description: With over 5,000 colleges in the US the task of narrowing your prospects down to 10 or 12 can seem overwhelming. Safety school? Target school? Reach school?   • Session Description: You met an admissions representative at a fair but before you apply you want to get to know the school a little better. Getting a feel for a college to which you are not in close proximity might require a little creative effort, but it can certainly be done!  In this session, students will learn how to demonstrate their interest to, ask questions of and visit campuses that are not in their backyard.

  • Session Description: In an increasingly connected world, a college experience that grants the opportunity to broaden your perspective and learn about different cultures is quite valuable.  Additionally, stepping outside your comfort zone creates room for you to grow.  What better way to do all of these things than study in a different country?  This session will cover a few of the many learning opportunities abroad.

May 19: Understanding Holistic Admissions - 5:00pm PDT | 
  • Colleges Represented: Marist College, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, American University of Paris, Loyola University Chicago, Lawrence University
  • Session Description: What is a “good” SAT score? How much weight is placed on my freshman year? In this session Admissions Representatives will speak to some of the key elements they are looking for when making application decisions.
